Geo Expertise is active in the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as an essential tool for decision making in the fields of natural resources management as well as in social and economic research and human rights monitoring.
Course objectives
The objectives of the training are to:
• Provide participants with a working knowledge of humanitarian aid projects and skills to play an active role in designing and writing proposals and managing projects.
• Support the elaboration of humanitarian aid and development assistance projects to be submitted to the funding bodies.
The training comprises two 5 days training modules and support to participants in the inter-module period.
Course details
Module 1 focuses on the project cycle management and humanitarian principles.
At the end of the module, participants will be able to:
• Describe and analyze a problematic context with the project cycle management tools
• Identify different operational strategies based on opportunities and risks context
• Plan an intervention using the Logical Framework Approach
• Assess the resources according to project objectives
• Develop a monitoring system in line with project indicators
• Understand and identify the various actors in a given context, their mandates roles and interests.
• Identify and understand the operational realities of fundamental humanitarian principles (Humanity, Neutrality, Impartiality and Independence) and the ICRC Code of Conduct.
• Analyze the dynamics of conflict from different approaches
• Identify and analyze the dilemmas that may be faced actors help on field.
Module 2 focuses on advance project management and proposal design and writing
At the end of the training, participants will be able to:
• Choose the type of information to be collected for each project cycle phase (evaluation original, design, monitoring and evaluation)
• Plan and carry out assessments using different tools and methods for collecting data
• Analyze data collected from different methods
• Identify relevant information and prepare different types of reports throughout the projectcycle
• Dealing with information to support the process of decision making
• Develop a monitoring system in line with project indicators
• Collaborate with various donors and build a relationship of trust
• Write a project proposal
The program is design and implemented in collaboration with the URD Group.

Staff of Syrian civil society associations and local councils with various professional background and experience (engineers, agronomists, economists…),
Our Partners
Contributions to the Syrian Civil Society Support Program from government institutions, non-governmental organizations, academics and researchers and private sector organizations are welcome. Supporting Syrian civil society organizations in implementing humanitarian and development projects in the crisis period is essential to increase the efficiency of humanitarian aid. Further, these organizations will have a key role in reconciliation and reconstruction post-conflict transition.
